Sharing Claude artifacts, and diagrams Claude makes

A Claude artifact is the page, app or diagram Claude makes next to the chat. Since September 2026 new artifacts start private, you share them with Share, and Anthropic says the people you share with need a Claude account. That works when everyone uses Claude. When they don’t, or the diagram is also changed from other tools, connect Diagram and Claude saves the diagram at a link instead.

How sharing artifacts works now

From Anthropic’s help center and Claude Code docs, checked in October 2026:

  • New artifacts start private. Nothing is shared until you use Share. Artifacts made before September 16, 2026 keep the old Publish button.
  • Who you can share with depends on your plan. Pro and Max: anyone with the link, or people you invite by email. Team and Enterprise: people you invite, your whole organization, or anyone with the link if an owner allows it. The Free plan can’t share new artifacts by link.
  • Viewers need a Claude account, according to the help center, except for older published artifacts. Claude Code’s docs describe public links that open without signing in, so test yours signed out before relying on it.
  • It updates as you work. Claude Code keeps each publish as a version and lets you choose which one people see.
  • Remix is gone. To reuse a published artifact, copy its code into a new chat.
  • Public artifacts aren’t indexed. Their pages tell search engines not to list them.

When an artifact is enough, and when it isn’t

If everyone who needs the diagram uses Claude, share the artifact. Use Diagram when one of these is true:

  • The people you send it to don’t use Claude. A public diagram on Diagram opens for anyone with the link, no account needed.
  • It’s made or changed from more than one tool. The same diagram can be updated from Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, Copilot or ChatGPT, because it lives at the link and not in one chat.
  • It belongs with other diagrams. Projects keep a repo’s or a team’s diagrams together, shared with the people on them.
  • You’re on the Free plan and want a link at all.

Share a diagram from Claude at a link

Connect Diagram once in the Claude app or in Claude Code:

Then ask for the diagram and the link:

  • “Draw how our onboarding works as a flowchart and give me a link I can share.”
  • “Save the diagram you just made to Diagram so I can send it to the team.”
  • “Update the diagram: the review step comes before approval now.”

The diagram starts private. To show it to anyone with the link, make it public on Diagram; Claude never does that for you.

Examples of diagrams Claude drew

These were drawn by Claude and shared with Diagram, so they open for anyone, with or without a Claude account. They are exploded views: an object drawn at an angle with its parts lifted apart.

Questions

How do I share a Claude artifact?
Open the artifact and use Share. New artifacts start private; on Pro and Max you can share with anyone who has the link or invite people by email, and on Team and Enterprise with people you invite or your whole organization (or anyone with the link, if an owner allows it).
Can people without a Claude account open a shared artifact?
Anthropic’s help center says no, except artifacts published before September 16, 2026. Claude Code’s docs describe public artifact links that open without signing in. Open your link in a signed-out browser before you send it to someone who doesn’t use Claude.
What happened to Publish and Remix?
Artifacts made before September 16, 2026 keep the old Publish button. New ones have Share instead, and Remix is gone; to reuse a published artifact, copy its code into a new chat.
Does a shared artifact update when Claude changes it?
Yes. New artifacts update as you work, and Claude Code keeps each publish as a version so you can choose which one people see.
Can Claude make diagrams?
Yes. Claude draws flowcharts, architecture diagrams, org charts, timelines and more, as an artifact or, with Diagram connected, as a diagram saved at a link.
Why use Diagram instead of an artifact?
When the people you send it to don’t use Claude, when the diagram also gets made or changed from Cursor, Codex, Copilot or ChatGPT, or when it belongs in a team project with other diagrams. If everyone has Claude, an artifact may be all you need.
