How to make diagrams in Claude app
Ask Claude app (Anthropic’s Claude on the web and desktop) for a diagram in plain words and it draws one. On its own, the result stays in the chat or in a file only you can open. Connect Diagram once, and every diagram Claude app makes is saved at a link you can share, which stays current as the diagram changes. It takes three steps.
1. Connect Diagram to Claude app
In claude.ai or the Claude desktop app: Customize → Connectors → + → Add custom connector. Name it Diagram, paste this URL, leave Advanced settings empty, and click Add:
https://diagram.la/mcp
Sign in once: After adding it, click Connect next to Diagram: sign in to Diagram and click Allow.
Works on every Claude plan (Free allows one custom connector). On Team and Enterprise, an org owner adds custom connectors under Organization settings → Connectors.
2. Ask Claude app for a diagram
In a new chat, click + → Connectors and turn on Diagram, then describe what you want in plain words. For example:
- “Read this document and draw the process it describes as a diagram I can share.”
- “Map the customer journey for our coffee shop: order, bar, pickup, and where people wait.”
- “Draw our org chart from this list, with who reports to whom.”
- “Show where our revenue goes as a flow diagram: salaries, materials, rent, profit.”
Claude app draws it, saves it to Diagram as a draft only you can see, and gives you a link. Keep the link open: when you ask for a change, the page updates by itself.
3. Publish it and share the link
When it looks right, tell Claude app to publish it. It asks first and says who will be able to see it: the people on its project. Then paste the link in Slack, a pull request, or a doc. To change it later, ask Claude app: the link stays the same and every version is kept.
